Luftgekühlt, the travelling show for air-cooled Porsches, holds its twelfth edition next Saturday, 10 October 2026. The venue is the Town at Trilith in Fayetteville, Georgia, south of Atlanta, with a welcome party announced for the Friday evening.

What it is

Luftgekühlt is German for air-cooled. The event was started in Los Angeles in 2014 by the racing driver Patrick Long and the creative director Howie Idelson, and it has grown from a car park gathering into one of the best-known Porsche events in the world. It is run more like an exhibition than a car show: each edition takes over an unusual location and the cars are placed with care, mixing famous racing cars with owners’ road cars.

Everything on display predates the switch to water cooling, which means the 356, the 914 and every 911 up to the 993, plus the racing cars built around those engines.

Why Atlanta

Atlanta is the home of Porsche Cars North America, whose headquarters and Experience Center sit beside the airport. The move follows Luft 11, held in Durham, North Carolina, in October 2025, which the organisers say drew more than 9,000 visitors, and a first Luft Tokyo earlier in 2026. The date also falls shortly after the Petit Le Mans endurance race at Road Atlanta, so some visitors will be combining the two.

If you are going

  • Tickets are sold in advance through the organisers’ website. Past editions have sold out, so do not count on buying at the gate.
  • Showing a car is by application and the display is curated. Most visitors park outside and walk in.
  • Arrive early. The light is best and the crowds are thinnest in the first hour.
  • Check the details on the official site before you travel, as timings and parking arrangements are confirmed close to the day.

Make a drive of it

North Georgia and the neighbouring states have some of the best roads in the eastern United States, and October is the right time for them. The Tail of the Dragon at Deals Gap is about three and a half hours north of Atlanta, and the southern end of the Blue Ridge Parkway is close by, with autumn colour arriving at the higher elevations.
